Map Dairy Holdings
Automate the import of milk recording data into your VetIMPRESS.
There are two stages involved in automating the import of a client’s milk recording data into VetIMPRESS, once permission from the farmer’s milk recording company has been granted by the farmer. (See separate article on 3rd party permissions process - link below). Firstly, your VetIMPRESS site must receive the milk recording data from the relevant organisation (e.g., CIS or NMR). Secondly, the milk recording data must be mapped to the relevant holding number in VetIMPRESS. This ensures that the milk recording data is correctly assigned to the official animal data, already contained in VetIMPRESS, and received from the automated link to the government database (e.g., BCMS/CTS or APHIS).This second phase, involves a one-time mapping of a dairy holding within the Practice area.
These instructions describe how to carry out this one-time mapping exercise.
Steps to automate the import of milk recording data:
1. Navigate to PRACTICE → Practice setup.
2. Select Map Dairy Holdings from the main screen. This will bring up a list of all the milk recording files available to you under the following headings:
3. Search for your client, as appropriate, using the search box at the top of any column. On the right hand side of the client details click the Edit button. This will generate the following pop up:
4. Search for the relevant farm using the Holding , Client or address search boxes *If you can’t find the farm you expect to, make sure the client is on the Active Client list and identified as a Dairy herd.
5. IF the returned client is displayed in RED, this means that there is no official animal data in VetIMPRESS for that holding. You MUST check the link to the government database before continuing to map the milk recording data. (See separate article on Setting up a Holding - link below).
6. Select the farm to map by clicking the check box under Holding Mapped. A little red triangle appears on the top left for the check box to signify a change. The farm is now mapped.
7. Click Save on the top left of the client search box, the little red triangle disappears to note it’s been saved.
8. Close the pop up and check there is now a Holding appearing for the client under ‘Attached to Holding’
9. The farmer’s milk recording data can be viewed within Client → Report Centre.
Please note:
CIS provides milk recording data including milk quality and fertility information as well as Johnes status info.
NMR provide only milk quality and fertility information.
